Jeff Johnson’s Traffic Getting Plugin Killed My Site?
Tuesday, July 7th, 2009No, I’m not going to start badmouthing Jeff Johnson and dissing him like some insecure rapper. He has taught me an awful lot about search engine ranking and following his advice has helped me gain numerous top 10 rankings on Google.
When it comes to search engine optimisation he is one of the very top guys in the business. Just wanted to get that straight!
So having said all that why on earth would I accuse him (or rather his software) of killing my website? Well it’s just to prove a point really. The point being, never take anything for granted when it comes to SEM. Let me explain…
Over the last couple of years I have been embracing WordPress and have come to know the software intimately.
I used to always laugh at people who moaned and whinged on the forums saying their websites have been relegated to the supplemental results or they have been sandboxed. I would laugh because I have never had that problem with WordPress.
I would regularly see my brand-new WordPress blogs indexed and ranking in Google usually within days. This was the norm for me.
Then I decided to use Jeffs traffic getting plug-in to see if I could boost my WordPress blogs even more. So, excitedly, I installed and configured the plug-in on a brand-new blog of mine. I verified everything was working properly and waited for the amazing traffic getting results.
This was a good couple of months ago now and my poor WordPress blog is languishing in the sandbox or whatever you want to call it. Plenty of indexing going on but absolutely no rankings whatsoever.
Obviously before I jump to any conclusions about Jeff Johnson’s traffic getting plug-in I will need to wait a bit longer and keep building links in order to push the website out of the dark place it is in at the moment and I am hopeful that once I break out, this thing is going to drive serious amounts of traffic.
So even though Jeffs plug-in seems to have temporarily destroyed my rankings where usually I would have achieved almost immediate traffic the long-term results do look good.
So the answer to my question posed in the headline of this post would be a resounding no because my website is fully indexed and just poised waiting to explode! I expect the post will get a bit of attention in the blogosphere though!
