Tuesday, June 14th, 2011If you are looking to effeciently become better at sports and jump higher then you must learn how the body works. Being able to jump higher and having a higher vertical then your competition will certainly give you advantages as supposed to someone who has a lesser vertical then you. So besides the weight training and lifting iron, what are the best ways or should we say, alternatives that a person can do that will increase their vertical? It is a training known as plyometrics.
Plyometrics is just like jumping but what is special about plyometrics is that it is using your own body weight to make your muslces more explosive and when you train correctly with plyometrics then you will see results. Plyometrics are done by all kinds of athletes and in many sports as well. Professional athletes do plyometrics but be careful that you do not do them everyday. If you do not know what plyometric is then you probably may have already done it without realizing it, an example would be doing jump rope or doing some push ups, if you have done any of these two exercises which I am sure that you have done then you have done plyometrics before.
When you do some plyometric exercises overtime then you will see that you will not become as easily fatigues as before and you will be more stronger in the area that you have trained. If you need to know some exercises that are plyometric that you can do to make you jump higher then we will tell you.
Box jumps is a common form of plyometric exercise that is especially used by football athletes. You may have been to the gym and seen someone step on a box fast and then step with the other foot immiediately. That is the box jump and you do not even have to do any intense lifting, but what you do have to do is intense footwork. This also helps you to become more agile since your legs will be moving at a fast speed.
Lateral hops are another form of plyometric exercise that you can do that will also increase your vertical. If you have seen the 100 meters in a track and field event then you may have seen some sprinters jump and tuck their knees to their chest before they get on the starting block. That is basically a lateral hop and if you do them right then you will see results.
Plyometrics should not be done everyday and only every other day.
